Hi there ,

Welcome to the HP Support Forums! It is a great place to find the help you need, from other users, HP experts and other support personnel. I understand that you are having trouble connecting a S6500 speaker set to some device. I am happy to help with this. Please identify what you are trying to connect to, the full product number and operating system in use on your computer. See the following, if you need help with that information.

How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
Is the Windows Version on My Computer 32-bit or 64-bit?

You may find this of help for now: HP S6500 Wireless Speaker - Setting Up the HP S6500 Wireless Speaker.

Please let me know how that works for you, and if it does resolve your issue, please mark this post as a solution. Kudos would also be appreciated.

The forum Mods have split off your post into its own thread -- so there is no information here regarding anything about the problem, or what has been done to address it.

You can start by following the instructions in the link for finding your detailed product number:  Finding Your HP Product Model Number | HP® Customer Support

Also, what version of the OS was your PC running before you did the Win10 Upgarde?

Once we have that information, we can begin.

Thanks, that helped quite a lot Smiley Happy I was able to go through the tutorial and have the computer recognize my mic, etc. Unfortunately speech recognition still doesn't work Smiley Sad
Now when I open it, the little box comes up, but when I try to use it, it just turns off.
I'm finding that much of everything on this computer (doesn't) work the same way. I'm becoming quite discouraged with it.

Sound keeps switching to external speakers from monitor speaker

on 2/17/16 [Personal information removed] and again on 2/26/16 had live chats with HP to correct the issue with no longer getting sound thru my HP 750-114 to my Dell Monitor S2415H.   Sound thru the monitor works perfectly until I use some of my programs or an upload appears.  Both times the HP tech had to uninstall sound driver and reinstall the driver.  Each time I spent at least 1.5 hours on live chat while they corrected the issue.

The last correction lasted less than 24 hours and the red X at the speaker on the task bar appeared which told me to connect external speakers.  The sound works with external speakers connected but I am not happy with that solution as originally it worked fine for at least two months using my monitor.

The last technician even had my dell monitor set as the default sound monitor.

Even with the external speakers plugged in if I insert a CD I do not get any sound!!!!!.

I am extremely frustrated with HP and Windows 10 regarding this on going issue.  My last HP has less problems over the 6 years I had it compared to this new computer.

Unfortunately I know just enough to get myself in trouble with the computer so unless I get step by step instructions I am reluctant to uninstall the driver and re install the sound driver myself.

FRUSTRATED BEYOND BELIEF!!

Regards,

Bang & Olufsen integrated sound horrible, cheap, low, weak on HP Envy desktop

$

I purchased an HP Envy Desktop with the advertised "Premium" Bang & Olufsen sound and the Bang & Olufsen name is printed on the bottom of the front panel on the desktop.  I have a pair of Sony MDR-V150 headphones which use a normal headphone plug.  I had no issues with these headphones on my previous HP Pavilion Desktop which had Beats Audio.

When using my headphones on the new HP Envy Desktop the sound level would only go to 50-75% volume even if I set the volume to 100% on my computer.  The sound level was very weak and could not be boosted.  I tried everything from changing drivers, modyfing Bang & Olufsen settings using the provided software, modifying Windows sound settings, etc.  I even called HP support which resulted in me having to PURCHASE a recovery disk to perform a system recovery on my desktop to see if there was an issue with the OS.  There was not.

Finally, I went out and purchased a Creative Labs Soundblaster sound card for $30 and installed it in the HP Envy desktop.  My sound level was back to what I was used to with the previous HP desktop that had Beats Audio.

My conclusion: the Bang & Olufsen "Premium" sound that's supposed to be the selling point for this series of Envy desktops is nothing but integrated sound on a cheap motherboard installed in the HP Envy Desktops that does not output adequate sound levels for some headphones or speakers.  If you open up your HP Envy Desktop you will see that the factory audio inputs and outputs are integrated into the motherboard - there is no separate sound card for this "Premium" sound that HP is advertising.

FK8334, welcome to the forum.

When requesting help you should always include the make/model (i.e. p6-xxxx) of the computer and/or monitor. This information is necessary for us to review the specifications of them.  I want to look at the specs to see what it says about the sound.

Thanks for the hint, but I let the owner buy a 3 Euro USB audio stick, so the problem is solved.

Monitor Warranty

Hi I'm having problems looking up warranty information for an HP Monitor I purchased at Tigerdirect (P.S. They no longer accept returns for anything per there policy change so this will likely be the last thing I buy from them). Anyway When attempting to lookup the Serial Number and Product Number it says it isnt found...I'm not sure what is going on. Someone I know purchased an identical monitor and is having issues and needs to turn there monitor in for warranty and is having the same problems I have.

I think I found it. I was about to login to the Chat Support Site and somehow it grabbed the warranty info (not sure how... Evey check has failed thus far)The product Number has a second A (My product Number on the back of my Monitor clearly does not)

Here is what is on the back of my monitor: K6X12A

Here is what the computer some how found: K6X12AA  (note the second A)

This is very concerning. Even after using the Warranty Check tool the Product Number on the back fails. I can even upload a picture of my Product Number for proof.

K6X12AA is what you should use.

Hi ,

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post serial numbers and case details.

If you are unfamiliar with how the Forum's private message capability works, this post has instructions.

How do I adjust settings to take my USB headset and microphone?

dp to hdmi no audio

Display port out to an active DP to HDMI adapter.  No audio is available via this adapter.

My Intel Q45/43 chipset is supposed to support audio and video.

Display Driver ver 8.15.10.2702.

My driver is up to date.

I have a USB to HDMI adapter which results in audio andvideo.

Must use a special software though that often konks out when PC sleeps.

I want to simplify the PC, old as it may be, going DP to HDMI with both audio and video.

Is it possible to obtain both video and soundfrom the DP to HDMI at all?

Thank you for your quick response .

I have an active HDMI adapter that is an active display port to HDMI.

I mistakenly previously tried passive adapters and found the one I'm using through a place out in California .

The reason I sent my query is that this active adapter doesn't seem to work .

How many active adapters must I purchase until I find one that does work ?

 In summing up your response:

the good news is the display port will carry sound;

the bad news is I'm going broke buying all these adapters .

I will have to assess how much more I will invest in getting a display port adapter that works versus using my current USB to HDMI adapter .

 Thank you again
