thanks for the reply,

Thanks for performing troubleshooting. I understand that microphone is still not functional.

Please try few steps recommended below.

A) Press Window and X keys together, click on ‘device manager’

B) Expand ‘Sound Video and Game Controllers” and right-click on ‘High Definition Audio Device and select ‘uninstall’.
C) Restart the computer and check the issue status

If the above steps do not work try the steps mentioned below.

Go to Control Panel->‘sound’-> ‘recording’ tab -> select 'Realtek High Definition Audio microphone' and click on ‘properties’ ->on the ‘microphone’ pane select the ‘enhancements’ tab -> click the check box ‘disable all sound effects’ then click ‘OK’

Let me know if this works,

Have a great day!

Front Audio / Headset Jacks Not Working

Hello.

My audio / headset jacks on the front panel of my PC running Windows 8.1 will not work. I had the Beats Audio Panel installed and was using the IDT High Definition Audio Codec and had rear sound through my speakers only.

After checking your forum, I unistalled that driver (and Beats Audio) and installed the High Definition Audio Device driver only (no Beats Audio) and both rear jacks work.

So, I can get sound and recording in the rear, but not it the front.

I hope you can help me. Thank you. Smiley Wink

Hello , Greetings.

Thanks for stopping by the HP Support Forums! I am glad to help you with the sound issues that you are facing with the Envy computer.

First, try the below-mentioned steps to try and fix the issue:

  • Go into Control Panel, then Sound.
  • Look for the Recording tab.
  • Select your microphone/headset as the default device, and press OK.

If you still face the same issue, then proceed with the steps below:

  • Go to device manager (You can give a right click on windows logo on bottom left corner of your screen and select device manager from the list)
  • Now maximize the “Sound, video and game controllers” from the list. You will see the audio driver. Then give a right click on the audio driver and choose “Update Driver Software” option.
  • Choose the option which says “Search automatically for updated driver software”. Follow the on-screen instructions to update the current drivers.
  • Once done, restart the computer and check the sound.

Let me know how it goes. Thanks!

Cheers Smiley Happy

Hi there ,

I hope you find your Support Forum experience a positive one!  I understand that you are having an issue with Beats Audio after a Windows 10 upgrade.  I am happy to give you a hand with this.

If you haven't already, you could try installing the driver from Windows 8.1 instead of the one for Windows 10, and see if that helps.

Please let me know whether that works for you, and if it does resolve your issue, please mark this post as a solution. Kudos would also be appreciated.

Hi:

See if this driver works...

This package provides the driver for the IDT High Definition Audio solutions in supported models that are running a supported operating system.

File name: sp65099.exe

Hi ,

Thank you for the reply. Appreciate your efforts in trying to get the issue fixed.

I need to know the manufacturer name of the audio driver to further assist you. Go to Device manager – Expand “Sound, Video and game controllers” and give me the name of the audio driver you see there.

Thank you. Have a great day!

Re: Windows 10 not recognizing the Audio mixer of the Sound Max integrated digital HD Audio

My problem is not yet solved because my desktop PC still does not recognize the stereo mixer, even if i see it is present as a audio device, with the line-in and the microphone.

But to record directly while playng in necessary the stereo mixer is working.

The strange thing that i look but yet not i understand, is that on my laptop HP 2530p elitebook, which also migrated to win10, the stereo mixer works very well, having the same integrated audio chip, and having the same drivers now installed on my desktop PC, while on this last the mixer is not recognized.

The only difference that exists between the two computers laptop and desktop, is that the first have been automatically updated with the release windows 10 pro, while the desktop has been updated (always automatically) with the win10 version home, but both the laptop and the desktop have identical Windows 10 version 1511, build SO 10586,589.

Thank you for responding again. What I've pulled up is IDT High Definition Audio CODEC. That's the only thing that shows up under Sound, Video and game controllers. I hope that helps. Again, Thank you for your assistance with this.

HI @Gemini02.

As I said, I had checked the forum before posting and tried the procedures you directed me to in your reply as well as various others. Nothing has worked.

I will try to post screen shots of the sound properties with further details when I return to my PC later today.

Thanks for your help.

Hi ,

You could do a chipset and bios update to see if that will resolve this issue.

Here is the link: HP ENVY Desktop - 700-414.

Let me know how you make out.

Thanks!

Hi beachside423,

Can you give some examples of when the speakers work well and when they do not? Sometimes there are different sites or apps that provide a better audio signal than others. So if you are listening to audio while on the Internet and that's when the audio is lower, it could also be related to the download/buffering signal strength or just the quality of the sound file.

Active (with their own power source ) external speakers will generally give better audio quality overall. When it comes to what speakers would work best for you, it comes down to three main questions you'll need to answer for yourself first:

1) What audio experience do you want? For example, do you want loud, full digital surround sound for movies, or do you just want some basic audio that is louder than your integrated speakers?

2) How much are you willing to spend on speakers?

3) Do you need wired or wireless speakers?

There are lot of different speaker options on the market. Here is what HP is selling online:

What other options are there on that screen? I ask because I don't have this monitor personally, but I'm trying to see if I can help identify the problem from what I know of other monitors and audio issues.

Also, do you have any other speakers or headphones plugged into the monitor or the PC it's connected to?

Well the other options are display port audio, mhl/HDMI audio and pc analog audio. I don't have anything plugged in just using the monitor speakers.
